October, 2015. Riverwood, Port Charlotte, FL
It's been five months since she was last driven.
Before that she sat in the garage in Maryland for years; taken out once every few months before making the thousand mile hike down to her new home in Florida.
She may not be driven as much as she had been, but she’s still as beautiful today as she was the day my son and I drove her home off the showroom.
After replacing a weak battery that had suffered sulfide death, Sandy and I took her out for a drive. It took twenty miles for the tires to warm up and the flat spots to disappear.
We drove over causeways. Along beach roads. And stopped to watch the sunset.
The next day, another short drive; my wife, Sandy and I.
Now she’s snuggled up in the garage again; battery tender connected. Sandy and I are back in Maryland. The wife is expected to head up soon.
And the 'Z' waits.
Because I still drive the 'Z’.
